Hillside Neighborhood Association & Northwest District Association present ReVive-ReClaim-ReCycle: a reuse, recycle, and bulky waste collection event.

Date:  Saturday, Oct. 10
Time:  9:15 AM -12 PM, or when drop boxes are full.
Swap area open until 2 PM for pick-up only.
Location:  St. Mary Cathedral Parking Lot, 1716 NW Davis St, Portland, OR 97209

ReVive-ReClaim-ReCycle is a service to the neighborhoods organized by its neighbor-volunteers.  Please be nice and thank them for their help. Your volunteers reserve the right to refuse materials that appear unsafe, unsanitary, or hazardous.

The Goal: Provide the community a place to 1) swap or donate reusable, gently-used household goods and clothing 2) recycle or upcycle goods and materials in a safe and eco-conscious manner, 3) fill landfill-bound drop boxes with only bulky, broken, unusable items which cannot disposed of using your regular garbage can, and finally 4) securely shred private documents.

Donations are kindly accepted, but not a requirement to participate in ReVive-ReClaim-ReCycle.  This event is sponsored by, and would not be possible without, Metro Refresh Fund grant program.  The grant does not cover all event costs.  Donations received in excess of expenses will be used to provide future neighborhood association programming.

VIEW DIRECTIONS BELOW for 1) SWAP, 2) RE-USE PARTNERS, 3) RECYCLING VENDORS, 4) BULKY WASTE DROP BOXES, 5) DOCUMENT SHREDDING, and 6) TRAFFIC FLOW MAP.  We cannot accept everything, and we don’t want you to spend your time bringing items that we must then turn away.  PLEASE READ “ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED“.

Think of a giant, free “yard sale” for neighbors to donate their reusable items, and take away items they find others have dropped off.  You need not donate items in order to take any away!  At the end of the day, our partners will take the remaining items to upcycle or recycle in the community.
  • Home goods
  • Furniture
  • Clothing (no used socks & underwear)
  • Tools
  • Hobby items
  • Pet supplies in reusable condition
  • Durable medical equipment (DME)

ReVive ReClaim PARTNERS:

Community Warehouse – accepting clean, complete, and fully functional essential furnishings (including clean, dry mattresses for reuse) and household staples that arrive ready to go out to homes the very same day.  We collect donated home goods, and work with social service agencies to get those goods in the hands of those who need it most.  What we accept

Community Cycling Center – accepting functioning bikes and parts to give them a second life.  Bikes and parts not able to be repaired get sent to salvage where our dedicated staff and volunteers help us dispose of them responsibly. Sales revenue goes toward supporting CCC services.

Second Hand Pet Supply – accepting everything pet-related (even damaged items) except food that has expired past a year and expired medication.

ReClaim It – collecting household goods and furniture.  Our goal is to reduce the number of items that end their journey at the landfill and raise awareness about creative reuse.

Friendly House – collecting clothing (after the completion of the community swap) for redistribution in the community. Friendly House creates a thriving community by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds through quality educational, recreational and other life-sustaining services.

A Caring Closet – accepting gently used durable medical equipment (DME) and get it to those who need it most, at no cost. Complete “accepting & NOT accepting” list of DME.  NOT accepting: 2-wheeled folding walkers, diabetes supplies, walking boots.  [Frog & Toad Hauling is collecting and transporting DME for A Caring Closet]

Frog & Toad Hauling – after the swap, the Frog & Toad crew collect remaining items.  They clean, sort, recycle, upcycle, and rehome materials, and store items to be redistributed to their large network of community organizations. Accepts mattresses for reuse or recycling.
